Pitts Roofing Company, Inc. was founded in 1992 by Dan Pitts Sr. and Dan Pitts Jr. Although the roofing company is only fifteen years old, the family owned construction business has roots in North Texas originating back to 1914.
In 1914 the George A. Pitts Construction Company was founded in Fort Worth. When George's youngest son Roy was old enough, he worked as an apprentice at his father's side. They worked together for many years on the some of the finest homes and buildings throughout Fort Worth and Dallas.
During World War II, Roy enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific. The Navy recognized his talents, and Roy was assigned to the Navy Sea Bees, the U.S. Naval Construction Battalion. He was hand chosen to remodel Admiral Nimitz's quarters and earned the rank of Chief before the war ended.
After the war, Roy returned to Fort Worth ready to begin a family, and his own construction business. In 1946, Roy started Roy Pitts Construction. This company was a general contracting firm and became recognized for excellence in completing high quality projects. Also in 1946, his eldest son Dan was born. Dan, like his father, worked at his father's side. Dan Jr. also worked for his grandfather every summer throughout his high school years.
After Roy's retirement, Dan founded, you guessed it, Dan C. Pitts Construction. The primary focus being on home improvements, such as remodeling, siding, and replacement windows. The new father and son team soon recognized a need for high quality roofing contractors, and founded Pitts Roofing Company, Inc. Their instincts were right, and the roofing division has grown over the past sixteen years.
In addition to actively working at Pitts Roofing, Dan Pitts Jr. serves as the President of the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association. Dan also serves a Senior Master Sergeant in the Texas Air National Guard, and has deployed numerous times overseas in support of OPERATIONS ENDURING FREEDOM, JOINT FORGE, and NORTHNERN WATCH.
